An eight-floor business hotel opened recently along the national highway here to cater to the growing number of visitors in the city.
According to Joy Tabligan, hotel manager for Human Resource, the Big 8 Corporate Hotel is owned by BMQ Group of Companies, whose primary business is lending with over 1,000 branches operating around the country.
She said the Big 8 is the first hotel that the company ventured in and had chosen Tagum City to launch its hotel business, seeing the city’s potential on tourism.
The hotel, she said, has a total of 121 rooms although she said that they will operate by phases.
Since it opened on July 5, she said they have an 80 to 90 percent hotel occupancy rate.
“Most of our clients are businessmen and corporate offices,” she said.
Tabligan also said they do sales blitz around the island in General Santos City, Zamboanga and Cagayan de Oro.
The hotel is near the business area and other government offices.
Rates are affordable, Tabligan said and each room is designed in neo-classical architecture.
The hotel is equipped with restaurants and bars and offers venues ideal for business conferences and other events.
