Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero promised to make that extra effort to get close to fellow senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

On Tuesday, Escudero admitted to host Kris Aquino on her show “KrisTV” that he isn’t close to the feisty senator, whom actress Heart Evangelista considers as her second mother.

Asked why he is not close to Santiago, Escudero replied: “Wala lang. Sige na nga sa Lunes (I’ll start getting close to her).”

Santiago is the one who introduced Escudero to Evangelista and has even offered to draft the prenuptial agreement should the rumored couple decide to tie the knot.

Evangelista and Escudero have been spotted together several times after the actress ended her relationship with Japanese-Brazilian model Daniel Matsunaga.

However, both have denied that they are now in a relationship.
