Kapamilya actor Matt Evans was released from jail on Monday afternoon after posting a P200 bail.
Evans left the Pasig City Police headquarters at exactly 5:30 p.m. on Monday after spending more than a day in jail.
Evans, who is celebrating his birthday today, said he will proceed to his parents’ house and temporarily live there.
The former “Pinoy Big Brother” teen housemate also said he won’t be having any celebrations for his birthday.
Evans, who’s known for playing Pedro Penduko on TV, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly hurting his girlfriend Johnelline Hickins and her brother Juan Alberto Carlotta.
In a statement released on Sunday, Evans’ legal counsel Gerly Rico admitted there was indeed an altercation among the three but denied that the actor injured Hickins and Carlotta.
Rico claimed it was actually Evans who got hurt and was even threatened with a knife.
Evans’ friends in showbiz were surprised by the news about their colleague. Former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Wendy Tabusalla said she knew Evans as a family man, especially since he became a father just recently.
“Bago nanganak ‘yung girlfriend nya, niyayaya namin siya lumabas o gumimik pero lagi niyang sinasabi uwi na ‘ko dahil hinahanap na ‘ko,” Tabusalla said.
Evans is currently working on the upcoming series “Paraiso.” Tabusalla said she last saw the actor during the taping for “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” last Thursday. — Report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News
