Michelle Obama to address election’s impact, voter registration in Reno

First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to speak to grassroots supporters at UNR on Wednesday.

First Lady Press Office officials said the speech will focus on the election’s impact in Nevada and encouraging supporters to organize their communities. She also will promote voter registration and voting — including early voting, which starts Oct. 20 in Nevada — through gottavote.com.The event is free and open to the public. Tickets are required due to limited space and will be available to the public starting on a first-come, first-served basis. They available starting Sunday at 2 p.m. at Obama campaign offices in Reno and at the Carson City Democratic Party Office.

The speech will come on the same day as the national debate between President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. Nevada is considered a swing state in the election.
