Some laborers from Jakarta and its satellite towns of Tangerang, Bekasi, Depok and Karawang will hold a national joint strike here Wednesday.

“The strikes will be held simultaneously in Jakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang, Karawang and Depok,” Executive Chairman of Aspek Indonesia, M Hakim, said.

The national strike will be conducted by workers grouped in a number of labor unions such as the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers Unions, the Confederation of the Indonesian Prosperous Labor Associations, the Confederation of the Indonesian Workers Unions and Aspek.

He said Aspek would stage its strike and deliver its aspirations in Pulogadung (East Jakarta), in front of the Jakarta Legislative Assembly and in front of state-owned telecommunications firm PT Telkom building.

“We have a three point demand, which asked for the elimination of outsourcing work system, rejection of cheap wages and the implementation of a work security insurance,” Hakim said.
