The man accused of murdering his Filipina girlfriend has been extradited from Arizona back to California to face murder charges.

Derek Pinski, 25, appeared in an Orange County court on Thursday afternoon to face one count of murder with a deadly weapon in the stabbing to death of 24-year-old Alexandra Tang.

He postponed his arraignment to October 19 and remains in custody with no bail.

Tang and Pinski met while attending the University of California in Santa Barbara, and reportedly dated for a year.

Prosecutors said Tang was visiting Pinski at his mother’s home in Laguna Hills, California during the Labor Day weekend.

Pinski’s mother reportedly found Tang stabbed to death. Police said Pinski fled to Arizona where he was arrested a few days later.

Funeral services for Alexandra Tang are scheduled for Friday morning in Santa Barbara.
