Some 50 political parties and 22 civil society associations will Tuesday take part in a National Dialogue Conference initiated by Tunisia’s main labor union UGTT, the official TAP press agency reported.
The conference which aims at finding solutions to the country’s political crisis, will also be attended by Tunisia’s president Moncef Marzouki, TAP said.
Initially, a spokesman for the presidency said on Monday that Marzouki would not take part in the event, but would deliver an address read in his name.
The country’s ruling Islamic party Ennahdha and the president’s party, the Congress for the Republic, which is part of three-party coalition governing the country, said they would not take part in the conference.
The country’s prime minister Hamadi Jebali and the speaker for the 217-member constituent assembly, Mustapha Ben Jaafar, will also attend the event.
