Immigration authorities are on alert in the different airports and seaports for convicted murderer Rolito Go, reported to have escaped from the New Bilibid Prison.

In a memorandum, Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. directed Airport Operations Division, Immigration Regulations Division and all immigration officers and supervisors to be on alert for Go, who is also using the name Go Giap Cheung.

“In connection with the reported escape of convicted murderer Go from the New Bilibid Prison, you are hereby directed to be on the lookout for the said prison escapee and to prevent him from fleeing the country,” the BI chief in a one-page order said.

Likewise, the BI chief directed his personnel to be extra vigilant in screening departing travelers as there is a strong possibility that Go might use another name and passport to be able to leave the country.

Attached in the memorandum is a picture of Go, for easier and immediate identification by BI employees.

On the other hand, BI spokesperson Tonette Bucasas-Mangrobang said they are going through their records to check if Go has left the country.

“We are alerting all international airports and seaports. We are currently verifying if he has departed,” she said in a text message.

She added there are still active hold departure orders that have been previously issued against him.

It was reported that Go, a minimum security inmate, could not be found during the head count Tuesday night.

Go has been in jail for 18 years after he was convicted of shooting and killing engineering student Eldon Maguan in 1991.
