Police searching for pickup driver who hit 75-year-old pedestrian and fled

Metro Police are looking for the driver of a blue pickup truck who hit a 75-year-old woman Thursday evening and left the scene.

Police said the incident happened just after 6 p.m. on North Pecos Road near Cecile Avenue. Witnesses told police the pickup truck was turning right onto the northbound lanes of Pecos Road from Cecile Avenue.

The pedestrian, identified as Maria Herrera, was walking south on Pecos Road and was crossing Cecile Avenue when she was struck, police said. Herrera was transported to University Medical Center with critical injuries.

The pickup truck fled before emergency crews arrived.
