A woman is in custody after holding a child hostage at the Budget Suites at 2219 N. Rancho Drive, according to a Metro Police spokesman. Officials had said that the woman had barricaded herself inside an apartment early Saturday morning.

Officials said the woman called Metro Police to alert them of the hostage situation. Officers arrived on scene at 7:15 a.m.; SWAT followed shortly after to begin negotiations to get her to come out, officials said. KLAS-TV reports that the woman allowed negotiators into the apartment shortly before noon and that the child is with Child Protective Services.
