Cebu Pacific canceled four flights in Bicol region even after the weather bureau announced Typhoon “Chedeng” will not hit the country.
In an advisory, the airline said flights 5J627/628 MNL-Dumaguete-MNL; 5J172/173 CEB-Legaspi-CEB; 5J327/328 MNL-Legaspi-MNL; 5J523/524 MNL-Naga-MNL have been canceled today due to bad weather.
The weather bureau on Thursday said typhoon Chedeng (international codename: Songda) continues to follow a northwest track toward Japan, likely sparing the Philippines from the direct effects of the typhoon.
If there is no change in the typhoon’s track, it will leave the Philippines by Sunday evening before heading to Okinawa, Japan.
Catanduanes and Camarines Sur remain under storm signal no. 2 while Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Quezon Provinces, Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Marinduque, Burias Island, Ticao Island, Masbate, and Biliran Island were placed under signal number 1.
Cebu Pacific said affected passengers will be accommodated on the next available flights.
“Please stay tuned for more developments. We always place top priority in your safety; thank you for your understanding,” the advisory said.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Airlines said all flights will remain as scheduled.
