Noted lawyer Persida Acosta, head of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), tries to mediate cases before they finally go to courts with the airing of a new public affairs program in the Novaliches-based ABC-TV5.
Since News5, the network’s News and Public Affairs arm, was launched early this year, it has brought the Philippine broadcast industry to a new level with its breath of modernity and badge of militancy for action and change.
Now, TV5′s public affairs programming block gets even bigger and bolder as it upholds “firebrand journalism” with new programs set to be launched this September – investigative journalism at its best in Journo with Luchi Cruz-Valdes every Tuesday at 10 p.m., and Atty. Persida Acosta as a case-solver in Public Atorni on Thursdays, also at 10 p.m.
Manu Sandejas and Chiqui Roa-Puno zero in on drama behind sports every Saturday at 3 p.m. in Astig, back-to- back with Alagang Kapatid to be hosted by Cheryl Cosim at 4 p.m., while Raffy Tulfo teaches bystanders how to fish in Oplan Zero Tambay on Sundays, 10:30 p.m.
Public Atorni, hosted by the PAO chief, is a reality-based themed mediation on-air program. It helps the wheels of justice get unclogged by settling claims and disputes through the mediation of the people’s attorney, Persida Acosta.
Aired on Thursdays at 10 p.m., the program fulfills the mandate of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) to settle disputes through alternative means such as mediation, conciliation and arbitration. The battling parties are given clear options: “asunto o areglo” (to sue or to settle).
