Officials and employees of the provincial government of South Cotabato will converge at the provincial capitol in Koronadal City on Friday to offer prayers for victims of the recent disasters that hit the country and other parts of the world.

Alex Basco, provincial administrative officer, said the scheduled prayer vigil will be led by South Cotabato Gov. Arthur Pingoy Jr., members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and other officials from the province’s 10 towns and lone city.

He said the activity, which is being organized by the provincial government’s human resources and development office, will be highlighted by a living rosary, prayer vigil and a candle lighting ceremony that would be offered for the departed disaster victims.

“We declared it as a day of prayer for disaster victims and the time to seek guidance and safety from God Almighty to spare the country and the entire province of South Cotabato from various atrocities and calamities,” he said.

Basco said the activity, which will be participated in by provincial government workers from various religious affiliations, will also feature a 30-minute video clip of disasters that earlier happened around the world to help bring awareness on the damages that they may bring to people.

He said Gov. Pingoy will give a message during the activity and join a community singing by all participants, which were enjoined to wear white T-shirts.
