The Department of Agriculture, through the city government, distributed the regional Gawad Saka award to two farmers in a ceremony held at the university of La Sallete, Santiago City, Isabela recently.

Mayor Jose Marie L. Diaz led the recognition rites in conferring to Dante Cayapan of barangay Centro, San Antonio and Franklin Cortez of Cabisera 14 the Gawad Saka awards, Outstanding Corn Farmer and Outstanding Hybrid Rice Farmer, respectively.

The two Ilagueno Gawad Saka awardees will be fielded as finalists to the National Gawad Saka award.

Diaz said that the city of Ilagan is proud to have outstanding farmers.

They are considered great contributor to the national government’s food self-sufficiency program and worthy of emulation.
