The Rotary Club of Iloilo West is now looking for three patients who are interested to avail of its kidney transplant project slated on January 17-19 next year.
Atty. Raul Anlocoton, president of the Rotary Club of Iloilo West, said a team of surgeons from California, United States will come here at their own expense and will perform the kidney transplant operation in tandem with the medical team of Dr. Romulo Barrameda at the Iloilo St. Paul’s Hospital.
“Dr. Barrameda is a leading kidney transplant surgeon in Iloilo,” he said. “They will all perform the operations for free.”
The Rotary International will extend US $ 2,000 for the project under its Matching Grant Program which will be used to defray the expenses during the operations.
The patients, however, will be the one to look for their own donors and shoulder incidental expenses and post-operative medications and maintenance, he underscored.
They also have to be endorsed by any Rotary Club under District 3850.
The kidney transplant operation, he explained, is a very expensive procedure which might cost the patient not less than P700,000. This time, the Rotary Club of Iloilo West will have it for free.
The free kidney transplant operation is an annual project of the said civic group which has been going on for three years already.
