Motorcycle-riding gunmen peppered with bullets the Kidapawan City’s tourism officer as she left her house and boarded a tricycle in Poblacion Tuesday.
Marie Fe Sison Geronga-Pame sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on arrival at a hospital, Mayor Rodolfo Gantuangco said.
Gantuangco immediately ordered the manhunt for Pame’s killers and said authorities are already 90 percent sure of the identity of the mastermind.
He, however, refused to divulge details of the report.
The victim’s sister who witnessed the incident told authorities that the killers were waiting outside her house.
“When they saw Marie Fe came out of the house, they moved closer to her. One of the gunmen immediately pumped bullets into her body,” said Marissa, eldest sister of the victim.
She said the one driving the motorcycle wore crash helmet while the gunman wore bonnet. They fled immediately after pumping her with bullets.
Meanwhile, a day before her death she called on the media to minimize harm by not exposing the private life of private citizens without reason; respect the rights of persons involved; observe decency and treat people with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Pame was scheduled to attend a hearing of a case involving her son before she was gunned down.
Pame’s brutal death angered many residents of the city, including her staff and closest friends.
“She doesn’t deserve such kind of terrible death. Justice for Marie Fe and justice to all victims of summary executions in North Cotabato,” they said.
