The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) turned over P1 million worth of scholarship vouchers to the city government for the implementation of the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP).
A total of 152 scholars will be chosen to undergo the program to be administered by the Technical Institute of Iloilo City.
There are 15 available vouchers for electrical installation and maintenance, 70 for masonry, 47 for carpentry and 20 for automotive servicing.
All short courses have NC II competency classification and accredited by TESDA.
TESDA provincial director Toni June Tamayo turned over the scholarship vouchers during the flag raising ceremony at City Hall on Monday.
“We are fortunate to be part of this TESDA program. This would mean sure employment to the scholars after their training to enhance their technical-vocational skills,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.
The mayor already instructed TIIC officer-in-charge Maria Mathilde Octavio regarding the proper selection of scholars.
Octavio said the training can start anytime as soon as the city identifies the beneficiaries of the program.
