DA Regional Agri-Fishery Information Division (RAFID) chief Juvy S. Gaton said that the updating of the programs and projects of the national government on agriculture would make it easier for the public and stakeholders to understand the agriculture sector.

Gaton said that IEC materials are vital tools in helping the public benefit from the programs of the DA. These IECs will present the various projects and works of the DA on rice, corn, high-value commercial crops (HVCCs), livestock, loans and other new technologies, she said. It will also be distributed to various municipal and provincial agriculture offices, and attached agencies of the DA.

She said that giving the IECs a new packaging style would make it reader-friendly and attractive to clients. She said that the DA is keen on reaching its target clients, including farmers, investors and cooperatives by enhancing their IECs.

Gaton said the new packaging for IEC materials was discussed during  a recent seminar-workshop participated by information officers (IOs) from all regions, attached agencies and bureaus.

Gaton said the seminar-workshop was led by the Regional Agriculture and Fishery RAFID, the Agriculture and Fisheries Information Service (AFIS) and the Association of Government Information Officers (AGIO) Western Visayas Chapter. </p>
