Around 70 agenda are now pending at the Provincial Board of Negros Oriental after its failure to have a quorum for two consecutive regular sessions.
According to records of the secretariat of the Provincial Board, there were only four Board Members present during the two regular sessions, namely, Saleto Erames, Liland Estacion, Georgita Martinez and SK Federation President Scott Wayne Husain.
Erames last week filed a motion asking the secretariat to write a letter to all the members of the Provincial Board, including Vice Governor Apolinario Arnaiz Jr., the presiding officer, to explain the reasons why they were absent during the two consecutive regular sessions.
He said they are wondering about the whereabouts of their colleagues since they failed to inform the secretariat why they were absent for the regular sessions.
Erames said the letter is not mandatory but only for clarification since there are pending resolutions and appropriations that must be acted upon immediately before the Board takes a recess.
Among the absent Board Members were Arnaiz, Peve Ligan, Edmud Dy, Rotelio Lumjod, Melimoore Saycon, Erwin Michael Macias, and Arnie Teves, while Board Member Jessica Villanueva-Koppin is on official leave of absence.
Erames said he is not aware of any political bickering between the executive and the legislative body. He said he will personally continue to support the projects of Governor Roel Degamo for as long as there are no irregularities in the procedures.
Board Member Liland Estacion said she is worried because the failure to have a session would hamper the delivery of services to the people especially those in the barangays.
