PNP regional training director dares Dauin police to improve skills after completing training

The Philippine National Police Regional Training Unit Director of Region 7, Supt. Renato Dugan, has strongly challenged the 32 police personnel of the police station of Dauin, Negros Oriental to use their knowledge and practice their skills learned during the seven days Back to Basic training.

The 32 police personnel of Dauin police station formally completed the Back to Basic training recently.

Dauin PNP station is the first batch of graduates that completed the Back to Basic training in Negros Oriental and Central Visayas, said provincial police director Sr. Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas.

Dugan said he appreciates the strong support from the local government units in strengthening the police force in the town. He saw the importance of strengthening the police force especially with the presence of foreign and local tourists.

He said they have included the basic knowledge on crisis management and importance of marksmanship training.

Dauin is one of the famous tourist destinations in Negros Oriental because of the famous dive destination Apo Island. The town has a total of 17 beach resorts, including those in Apo Island.

Dauin Mayor Neil Credo also expressed his gratitude to the Regional Training Unit for accepting their requests for the training. He is expecting better performance from Dauin PNP after the training.

The mayor also made his promised to purchase two units of motorcycles for the Dauin PNP in order to improve police visibility especially in areas with beach resorts and frequent place for tourists.

He will also be consulting the members of the Sanguniang Bayan for a possible fund source to purchase ammunition for the marksmanship training of the police personnel. In fact, they have identified an area that can be used as a shooting range for practice shooting.

Meanwhile, the police force in Tanjay City will be the next to undergo the Back to Basic training which will start on February 21.
