A US brand doughnut will open two stores on October 20 at SM City Annex and in Abreeza Ayala Mall and by November another one at SM Lanang Premier.
Krispy Kreme marketing manager Mark E. Gamboa said they are infusing a capital expense of P30 million for the three stores and a commissary.
He said the three stores will make the company a total of 39 stores around the country and it is the first in Mindanao.
Gamboa said last year they opened three stores in a span of six months and the rest are in the different areas in Manila and Luzon.
He said the Davao store at SM Annex will have a Doughnut Theater where the public can view how the product is made. Occupying 100 square meters area, it will house its machines that can produce 40 dozens an hour and can seat about 50 to 60 diners and it has a drive thru set up, which is the 4th in the country that is open from 6:00 a.m to 1:00 a.m. The three stores also open at 8:00 am and closes based on mall hours.
Gamboa said the SM City Annex store will also boast of the Doughnut Factory where thousands of everyone’s much-love Original Glazed produced daily. While the store in Abreeza Ayala Mall with 50 sq. m. can seat about 50 diners and will feature the Baked Kitchen, where the brand’s Baked Creations are freshly rolled out every day. The store in SM Lanang Premier will occupy an area of 40 sq. m. and can seat some 30 guests.
Meanwhile, Gamboa said they will hire about a hundred Dabawenyos and employs 8 managers to head the operations on shift duty.
Gamboa said they have about 18 varieties of the doughnut and they are open to come up with new varieties citing for instance that they have mango and strawberry incorporated in some of the toppings.
He said there is also a possibility of coming up with a durian variety where Davao is known for a rich source of the fruit.
Gamboa also said in the 21 countries that they operate, it is in the Philippines that their pricing is the lowest.
Gamboa said they have set targets for expansion yearly and saying that a total of 11 branches be opened this year.
He added that as they open the stores in true Krispy Kreme tradition, “the first people — one from each of the eight neighboring cities and provinces — to ring the cash register gets a year-long supply of the brand’s Original Glazed Doughnuts and Signature Coffee.
Additionally, the second and third customers to fall in line will be rewarded six and three month’s worth of same delight respectively. The 4th to 100th purchasers are also in for treats as they will be getting supplies of these Krispy Kreme favorites to last them a whole month.
The eight neighboring cities/provinces in Mindanao included in the promo are Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Agusan del Norte, General Santos, Lanao del Norte and Cotabato City.
