Roxas City and Guimaras, both in Western Visayas, are recipients of projects totaling some P52 million from the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
A P48-million project package is being programmed for implementation by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) for the upgrading of the Roxas Airport in Roxas City, Capiz.
Also included in the latest project bidding announcement of the DOTC are the construction of a detachment building of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Buenavista, Guimaras worth P1.87 million and the rehabilitation/expansion of the existing PCG detachment building worth P1.99 million in the municipality of Jordan, also in the province of Guimaras.
The total approved budget for the three projects is approximately P52 million.
The development project for Roxas Airport will involve the construction of runway extension with a length of 120 meters and width of 45 meters, perimeter fence, and rehabilitation/expansion of the passenger terminal building.
The DOTC launched the bidding for these projects today, October 19 and set the deadline of submission and opening of bids a month from now or November 19-20.
These projects are in addition to the construction of two 3-storey buildings including facilities for water supply and drainage in the cities of Iloilo and Roxas which was announced by the DOTC a week ago. The Roxas City Coast Guard station building has an approved contract budget of P11.4 million while that for Iloilo City has P10.1 million.
These projects are in line with the mission of the agency to support the initiatives and programs of the government by providing effective, efficient and secure infrastructure in the transportation and communications sectors.
