The Jaguar Badminton Academy, the first-ever in Negros Occidental was held recently at the Pohang Badminton Center here.

Almost 60 aspiring shuttlers and varsity players took part in the six-hour a day training for a period of 12 days.

“It is the first badminton academy in the province which I and Academy consultant Jay Biñas spearheaded. We also tapped Negros’ top players to serve as trainers,” Academy Master Jordan Sun disclosed.

“We would like to appreciate the presence of Brandon Chan who appeared during the event on behalf of 3rd District Congressman Albee Benitez as well as Tiek Ming.

Ming a world ranking player from Indonesia has contributed so much in our academy training,” Sun added.

Sun also disclosed that they were invited to also conduct the same program in Sagay City as well as Roxas City in Capiz and the Province of Aklan.

“But it will depend upon the availability of the trainers,” he said.

“The academy was not made possible with out the moral support from Ms. Melanie Sabino, Mr. Ben Tan, Mr. Jun Servando and Sir Mike Po of the Pohang Badminton Center,” Sun revealed.

The academy is recognized by the Philippine Badminton Association Grassroots Program and Dunlop Philippines.
