Coach Tim Cone led a walk out of San Mig Coffee (B-Meg Derby Ace) from their tune-up game against Alaska Milk after disagreeing with the referee’s call on Tuesday.

According to PBA.ph, San Mig Coffee was down 50-63 in the third quarter when its player Jerwin Gaco was called for a flagrant foul.

Cone disagreed with the call and consulted with PBA technical official Ramil Cruz.

Moments later, he walked toward the Alaska bench and shook hands with Alaska coach Luigi Trillo then left the court with his San Mig Coffee team.

“Mukhang uminit ang ulo ni coach Tim sa isang call and he decided ‘sorry, but we’re not gonna take this,’” said Trillo.

But Cone said he had reasons for cutting the game short.

“I just decided to stop the game early since we’re short of players. It was obvious that our guys were still not ready to play a full game. In reality, we’ve only been practicing for a couple of days and our guys are just not in shape,” said the San Mig coach.

“We began to worry about injury and when a controversial call was made, we took advantage of it to stop the practice. I never should have scheduled that practice game this early. That was my fault. My apologies to Alaska and coach Luigi (Trillo),” Cone added.
