Former six-division champion Oscar de la Hoya denied that he plans to make a comeback after rumors spread of his willingness to take on junior middleweight boxers.

The 39-year-old boxing promoter said he loves to train, but this doesn’t mean he will be climbing the boxing ring time soon.

“I wish I could. Seriously. Look, I love training and I’m actually even hitting the heavy bag, working out and this and that… But I can’t, I can’t do it. And it hurts me. I wish I could but I can’t,” De la Hoya told Boxing Scene.

De la Hoya was forced to retire from boxing after absorbing an eighth-round stoppage from Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao in 2008.

However, news of his possible comeback spread after he tweeted that he can still handle any decent 154-pounder.

“I’m really confident I can do some damage to any [1]54 pounder in the world, except Saul Canelo Alvarez,” De la Hoya said in his Twitter post.
