The cancellation was based on the 24 hour FIFA ruling meaning “both teams should be within a 50 mile radius from where the game will be held 24 hours prior to kick off”. US Virgin islands couldn’t get to Indianapolis on time, the earliest they could get there if they accept the arrangements made by the host (which was the only available flight since it took USVI until August 12 to finalize their roster) to get them before the kick off at 7:30PM of August 17, their ETA in Indy would be 4PM August 17. US Soccer Federation decided to call it off due to this rule. USVI DOES NOT need visas to get to the US since they are are part of the US as one of the protectorates (i.e. Guam, Puerto Rico, Marianas, etc.). On the ticket refund only 146 tickets were confirmed sold,mostly online via Chicago Inferno SC website, the match maker and promoter and the Indianapolis Barangay Club out of the 9,000 on sale. Despite the very very low sales, the cancellation was not based on this but on
USSF’s ruling. What should have been done though was for Azkals to proceed to Indianapolis even without USVI…as ambassadors of the game and the country they should have at least visited the Indy Pinoys given the arrangements already paved for them by their hosts i.e. hotels, meet & greet programs, stadium arrangments etc. Chicago is just a mere 3 hours by bus and shouldn’t be much of a big deal for the AZKALS..these PFF folks that runs the team should learn a thing or two about good ambassadorship….they’re a bunch of ingrate and unprofessional team handlers…they behave more like hustlers…Pinoy pa rin ang dating…walang asenso!
