Unbeaten Filipino lightweight boxer Mercito Gesta is lined up for a world title fight against International Boxing Federation (IBF) ruler Miguel Vazquez, said boxing manager Vincent Parra.

Parra said Top Rank’s Bob Arum is currently working on having the fight in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao’s supposed bout on November 10.

“They’re working on it,” said Parra in RingTV. “Bob told me a couple days ago he’s making the fight. I’m told we will have something by the week’s end.”

The 25-year-old Vazquez has had three title defenses since 2010.

He suffered his only two defeats–in the hands of boxers Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Timothy Bradley.

Gesta, on the other hand, is coming off a 9th-round stoppage over Ty Barnett earlier this month.

“I believe Mercito can get him out of his comfort zone and make him trade,” said Parra of Vazquez.

Parra added that Gesta’s speed will pose a big problem for Vazquez.

“The speed is going to give him problems. I’m confident Mercito can dominate and maybe even stop him.”
