Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao promised to turn back time by unleashing the Manny Pacquiao of old against Juan Manuel Marquez on December 8.
Pacquiao, who has racked up eight world titles in eight weight classes, hasn’t come up with a truly dominant performance since his spectacular victory over Miguel Cotto in 2009.
He hopes it all ends when he meets his long-time Mexican rival for the fourth time.
“I want to erase the issue with the fans that I don’t have that hunger, the same hunger I had when I was 25,” the fighting congressman said during the kick-off press conference of his bout against Marquez in Los Angeles.
“I do want to fight; I do have that hunger.”
Part of his strategy is to hold his camp solely in Los Angeles, instead of dividing his time between the “City of Angels” and Baguio City as he believes this will lessen his chances of being distracted while training.
Indeed, Pacquiao needs to bring back his ferocity against Marquez.
The Mexican counter-puncher is the only boxer that has already figured out his fighting style as shown by their close bouts in three previous occasions.
